Sitting down to an Italian meal, the food was good and plentiful to say the least. We also had a table quiz during dinner – name the proverb – which was entertaining.  Let’s just say, some tables were better than others!

HKLC Champagne Dinner – May 26^th 2012

Ladies (members, guests and friends),

We are pleased to let you know that we have confirmed all of the details for the next HKLC Wine Dinner ……. it’s going to be a Champagne Dinner, run with the support of Wine N Things and sponsorship from Lanson Champagne.

Saturday 26 May @ The Meridien Hotel. Pokfulam.

7pm – 7.30pm – Welcome drinks
7.30pm – Dinner : 5 Courses + 5 different Champagnes

$1000 per head – amazing value! We are looking forward to learning more about Lanson Champagnes from a wine maker direct from the Champagne region of France. He is here for a conference and he has kindly offered to join us for the night!

We’re going to have fun, so let’s dress up …… Suits for the gents and ‘out on the town’ dresses for the ladies!

All monies raised on the night will go to three charities…… Riding For The Disabled (Pokfulam) for Riding Hats for Children / Sandy Bay Children’s Hospital for Kids On The Block Puppets / Ladies Circle International Project – Viva Con Agua

We are going to have a raffle and a silent auction. We have some great prizes, but we would love more, so please put your thinking cap on for any connections you might have!! Every little helps. Let a council member know if you have any ideas / suggestions / donations for either !

23rd April 2012 – Tentatively a lunch social might take place this day. Watch your email and this site for further details.

25th April 2012 – April Drinks Drop-In. Pop by and have a drink and nibbles with other ladies as well as eyebrow threading at Alicia’s in Pok Fu Lam. This will be a morning event with a $50 entry fee. Threading is an additional cost of $25 for just eyebrows, $75 for full face.

We have been invited by the guys at Hong Kong Round Table to a joint social with them on Wednesday 16th May – bowling at the Hong Kong Yacht Club.
It would be great if we could get a group together to join them (and maybe beat them!!!).

Angela has very kindly offered to host a book/DVD/CD sale at her place, in Chung Hom Kok, on Tuesday 5th June, with the proceeds going towards the building of a women’s hospital in Cambodia, which a charity in Singapore, Tabitha, is involved in.

Angela will provide drinks and nibbles on the night (thank you Angela), and her collection of redundant books and DVDs (someone else got a Kindle for Xmas!). Please feel free to bring your own books/DVDs etc to sell too.

Following on from David’s moving talk on Thursday night, if anyone is interested in visiting Crossroads to have a look at the village and also see what we as LC volunteers do. Please let either Julia our community coordinator or myself know.
If you wish to volunteer we attend each Tuesday and if we can Wednesday. There is no obligation to go every week, just as often as you are able.
We have a car pool system so it is a very sociable morning, starting with coffee in their fair trade cafe. Then we do some work in the Stationery Department (and have a chat) and end with our own packed lunch before leaving around 2pm. Oh, and of course we can always fit in a trip to their shop….for gifts and chocolate!

Thank you so much for the update. We wish all the Ladies Circle ladies and their families a wonderful Easter holiday. We also want to thank the ladies who do come in. We know that the job will get done and done well when you are in Stationery.

We understand about the Wednesdays, and we are hopeful that more ladies would join you and help flush out both days. I was told that DJ spoke to the Ladies Circle meeting last evening and he said he had a wonderful time with all of you. Thank you for welcoming him so warmly.

The dinner will be on the 27th March. If you are interested in coming please RSVP to the social coordinator, Karen (hklcsocial@gmail.com), by the 22nd March so the table can be booked on the Friday.

Come along and catch up, make new friends, chat and enjoy a nice meal!

The cost will be $400pp, which includes canapés and unlimited serving of soft drinks, fresh orange juice, Perrier, mineral water and house red and white wine and herbal tea for 2 hours.

As we are limited to 35 attendees, we are offering this out to Members first, please email Karen to put your name on the list, and she will be asking for a cheque to be sent to secure your place. Cheques will not be cashed until the day of the event.
